Chocolate Emerald Cichlid

 Petenia splendiada are a large species of cichlid which is considered and ambush predator. Its mouth is highly protractible and can extend out and inhale prey small enough to fit into its mouth. They are somewhat similar to the Caquetaia species of cichlid Like C. kraussii, C. myseri, and C. spectabilis. The nickname for his cichlid is the snook. There are few color morphs available and one of the popular forms are the Orange Snook or sometimes called Red Snook. This species is native to the Atlantic slope of tropical Mexico, Guatemala and Belize. It is said to prefer to slower moving rivers and lakes. This species is piscivorous which means it eats other fish. In there native habitat P. splendida are an important for local commercial fisheries.
