The Leopard Blenny,  Exallias brevis,  is also referred to as the Leopard Rockskipper, Short bodied Blenny, Sailfin Blenny, or Honeycomb Blenny. It has a stout body with a spectacular brown and honeycomb pattern that makes it the most captivating addition to any FOWLR tank. The Leopard Blenny grows up to 6 inches and should only be kept in a tank not less than 50 gallons. This Blenny is considered unsafe for a reef tank since it feeds on hard corals and plants, and is territorial. The Leopard Blenny will hop from rock to rock, scrapping the surface for algae.  It should be fed with a varied diet of both vegetable and meaty foods, such as natural algae and spinach combined with chopped shrimp and clam. The Leopard Blenny is known to be a good jumper and should be kept in a tank with a tight fitting lid. The leopard blenny produces slime that can protect it due to bad water quality or rough physical handling. The Leopard Blenny enjoys digging and appreciates a thick sand bed with mixed rubble and gravel, and plenty of live rock. It is harmless fish and makes a good choice for a community fish tank. Since it needs great care, it should not be kept by beginners. Like other blennies, they are generally compatible with: Dwarf Angelfish, Large Angelfish, Anthias, Boxfish, Butterflyfish, Cardinalfish, Clownfish, Damselfish, Filefish, Goatfish, Gobies, Grunts & Sweetlips, Hawkfish, Puffers, Squirrelfish and Tangs & Surgeons. They will thrive in a temperature range of 72-78°F and a pH of 8.1-8.4.
